Hair Transplant Surgery

Hair transplant surgery is the only permanent hair restoration treatment to restore bald and thinning hair.  There are 2 hair transplant surgery techniques, FUE and Follicular Unit, both of these techniques transfer hair from a thick area of your head to a thinning / bald area.  The only difference between the 2 techniques is how the hair follicles from the ” safe ” area are removed.  These 2 hair restoration techniques have more in common than the advertisers want you to know.

FUE,  Follicular Unit Extraction removes hair follicles from the donor area using a 1mm round punch, a hair transplant technician will insert the punch into your donor area which is numb and remove a 1-4 haired graft.  Once the grafts have been extracted they are transplanted into the bald and thinning areas, in the same manner as a Follicular Unit hair transplant procedure.

Follicular Unit hair transplant surgery is the most popular and utilized hair transplant technique by both ISHRS and ABHRS surgeons.  The FU technique allows the doctor and hair transplant technicians to transfer 3-4 times more hair than FUE.  Follicular Unit procedures perfrormed by experienced surgeons produce the most natural and dense results.

Many hair loss clients will automatically assume that automated FUE / Neograft is a more advanced hair transplant procedure and will give them better hair restoration results.  There are many factors that a hair loss client should consider when choosing between the two hair transplant techniques.  Both of these procedures performed by experienced surgeons and technicians will give you great results and allow you to take 10 years off of your appearance.  Cost is an important factor and should not be ignored.  On average you will pay about 30 % more for a FUE hair transplant procedure, for some clients it is worth the additional cost.  Discuss these concerns during your hair loss evaluation.

It is up to the hair loss client to decide which procedure is best for them after they receive a proper evaluation and recommendation by the surgeon.  Please contact us for a free hair loss evaluation.
